Protest in England: Sex ist Privatsache. Kink auch.

Ich hatte bereits neulich über das neue britische Gesetz berichtet, dass die Darstellung bestimmter Ausprägungen von Sexualität verbietet. Die „Audiovisual Media Services Regulations 2014“ lösen nicht nur internationales Kopfschütteln – Slate etwa titelt „British Government, Terrified of Female Sexuality, Is Censoring Bondage Porn“ – und beißende Kommentare aus wie jenen von Guardian-Kolumnistin Suzanne Moore, die die neuen Vorschriften als „komplett lächerlich“ und „bizarr, willkürlich und nicht zum Jugendschutz geeignet“ ansieht:

„One pretend answer is censorship. Why anyone in their right mind would hand any more power to the state over what they can see is utterly beyond me. If feminists think that government has women’s interests at heart, they are deluded. Most of what we all find immoral is already illegal, and it can’t be made any more illegal.

(…)

It is incredible that a committee of serious people has seriously come up with legislation that bans me from paying to watch a woman sitting on a man’s face, whereas in TV shows such as The Fall women’s fear is pimped as stylish titillation. And that’s how censorship works: it creeps in through any available orifice. Is this consensual? No. Policing fantasy never is.“

Selbst der stellvertretende britische Premierminister Nick Clegg ist mittlerweile der Ansicht, dass das neue Gesetz zu weit geht: „Government is not there to stick its nose in the bedroom as long as people are not doing things which are illegal under the law.“ Schließlich zeigen Statistiken, dass Bondage, Spanking und andere unter das neue Gesetz fallende Praktiken bei Briten sehr beliebt sind.
